As we close in on just two days before Manchester City face off with Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Champions League, Algerian left-back Ramy Bensebaini has made no secret of his excitement to square off against his compatriot Riyad Mahrez.
In quotes relayed by the BBC taken from an exclusive interview with their African sport-focused website, the Algerian defender had this to say on his compatriot and friend:
"I've really wanted to play against him [Riyad Mahrez]. Now let’s wait for the game and see if he can nutmeg me! We trained together, played an Afcon together, so I have a rough idea of his playing style. That being said, he is still Riyad."
Bensebaini continued, “He is still a great player and it’s my problem to find the solutions to stop him. It’s hard to say that I know him because he is outstanding from a technical point. It is not easy to read what he is about to do with the ball."
Mahrez has had an impressive couple of weeks in the build-up to the midweek European clash.
The tricky winger now has seven goals and four assists in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side so far this season, and the battle between these two down the right flank could be a crucial area in the determining the outcome of the tie over two legs.
