Ahead of their Premier League clash this weekend, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has opened up on his admiration for his Manchester City counter-part Pep Guardiola.
We’ve previously heard Pep Guardiola use his time during press conferences to wax lyrical on his appreciation for Bielsa, including prior to Manchester City’s 1-1 draw against the Yorkshire club back in October.
Unsurprisingly, it appears the feeling is mutual.
Speaking to DAZN, and as reported on Sport Witness this week, Marcelo Bielsa said, “Interpreting the innovative decisions that Guardiola incorporates into a game is the way to fall in love with football. He is a magical man”.
On replicating the style of football the Manchester City manager demands of his players, Bielsa went on to say “What he knows how to do, it is enormously difficult for me to try and I’ve already given up.”
The Leeds United boss certainly won’t have given up on his desire to beat Pep Guardiola, however.
In the four times the pair have met in opposition dugouts so far, Marceloa Bielsa has come out on the losing end twice, and has yet to best the Catalan tactician.
The Argentine will be looking to set that right this Saturday, and take his side up to ninth place in the Premier League table.
While for Manchester City, they will have the opportunity to further the gap between them and the rest of the Premier League, as they close in on their fifth Premier League title win over the past ten years.
