Pep Guardiola has claimed that Erling Haaland is a "b*****d" to play against after getting his first chance to see the Norwegian international up close and personal on Tuesday night.
While Erling Haaland did not score in Tuesday evening’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, the 20-year-old was a handful for the Sky Blue defence.
The defensive pairing of John Stones and Ruben Dias may have been the toughest test Erling Haaland has faced all season, however, with a bit more luck, the Borussia Dortmund man could have walked away with a goal, or two.
After the match, Pep Guardiola revealed to DAZN just how difficult it is facing an athlete as dominant and as technically able as Erling Haaland.
“When you want to press they play long balls, they play long balls to Haaland. Haaland is a b*****d – the link with him is always perfect and after they have the pace", Guardiola said.
Unfortunately for the Catalan boss, his Manchester City squad will have to attempt to keep Erling Haaland off of the score sheet for another 90 minutes, as Borussia Dortmund will look to claw back the 2-1 deficit they face heading into the second-leg.
