Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur received a significant offer from Premier League champions Manchester City, only for it to be turned down by his club, according to Corriere dello Sport as relayed by CalcioMercato.
Bentancur, who has been coveted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs since his rise to prominence began as a youngster, is also understood to be a target of La Liga side FC Barcelona - although the Catalan giants have not yet made an offer.
Juventus don’t see him as a key part of their midfield yet - with Miralem Pjanic, Sami Khedira, Aaron Ramsey and Adrian Rabiot amongst his competition - but his significant potential means he could be an important player for them over the next decade.
The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Boca Juniors and has made 75 appearances for Juventus. The report from CalcioMercato closes by claiming that both Manchester City and Barcelona could return for the midfielder with improved offers - which would see Juventus re-evaluate the situation.
