Ilkay Gundogan was not captured in any of the official Manchester City media from Sunday's post-Tottenham training session, causing some concern on social media over the fitness of the in-form German midfielder.

After scoring two goals in a crucial 3-0 victory over Jose Mourinho's side on Saturday afternoon, the Germany international was forced into being substituted on the 68th minute, after feeling some discomfort in his groin.

Speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola said, "We will see tomorrow [Sunday]. He told me it [groin] was tight, intelligent to see it."

Although there has been no official confirmation from the club on the fitness of Gundogan, which is standard practice in the event of minor muscular injuries, there may have been some hint as to the status of the 30-year-old.

The club have released photographs and video footage from the post-Tottenham training session, and Gundogan was not spotted in any of the media released. With that being said however, some players who played a significant part in the previous game often partake in light field work off-camera.

The most likely reason for Gundogan's absence from training media is that he had instead undertaken light gym-based work within the City Football Academy - possibly as a precaution following his withdrawal from the Spurs clash.

Pep Guardiola is due to participate in a press conference with the media on Tuesday afternoon, as Manchester City look ahead to their next Premier League fixture - their game-in-hand against Carlo Ancelotti's Everton at Goodison Park. An update on the fitness of Gundogan is likely to be provided then.

City currently sit seven points clear at the top of the table, but can extend the gap to ten points with a win - in a game that had been originally postponed in early January due to an outbreak of Covid-19 in the City camp.

Players spotted in media - majority of players partaking in off-camera work:

Ederson, Steffen, Carson.

Zinchenko, Walker, Stones, Dias, Garcia, Mendy.

Doyle, Bernardo Silva, Foden, Rodrigo.

Jesus, Delap, Sterling, Aguero, Torres, Mahrez.
