Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is set to undergo another Covid-19 test at the City Football Academy today, after contracting the virus last week.
The Argentine forward has endured a terrible run in terms of fitness and health issues since he first sustained knee ligament damage late last season against Burnley. Since then, despite returning to action momentarily, the City striker has been in and out of the squad and training.
However, it does seem as though the Argentine is on the verge of a return, after confirming during a live Twitch stream that he would be having a new Covid-19 test, as well as a general fitness test, on Thursday to assess whether he can return to Manchester City training.
During the same live Twitch broadcast, Aguero also drew attention to his symptoms while he was carrying the virus, stating that he had body and throat aches, as well as fatigue for a few days.
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be hoping the Argentine can finally put his off-the-field issues to bed, and push on during the business end of the campaign - with the squad still battling on all fronts this season.
The future of the legendary City and Premier League forward is also yet to be decided, although it is believed to be heavily dependant on whether he can prove his fitness in the final months of the campaign.
City are known to be ready to enter the market for a replacement this summer, with the likes of Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku on their radar.
