Man City to Offer Son of Man United Legend Academy Place
Manchester City will invite Wayne Rooney's son Kai to rejoin their coveted academy system when the former Manchester United star returns from his spell in the US, according to an exclusive report from the Mirror.
Rooney has spent over a year playing for Washington D.C. in the MLS - but will return to his home country when he joins Derby County as both a player and as part of their coaching staff in January.
Crucially, this could open the door for his eldest son Kai (9) to take back a place in Manchester City's academy, where he played between 2016 and 2018. According to The Mirror, The Citizens promised the Rooney family that they'd try to bring Kai back into the mix when they returned to England.
Wayne Rooney recently played his final match in the MLS, when his side were knocked out of the play-offs with a 5-1 defeat to Toronto FC in the first round.
