This month, there has been a significant increase in the links between Pep Guardiola's side and the thriving Napoli midfielder Fabián Ruiz, and that continued on Friday.
The latest report comes after it was confirmed Manchester City had sent a scout to Napoli's 3-2 Champions League win over RB Salzburg, to monitor the performance of the Spaniard. SPORT now suggests that the Premier League champions are 'very interested' in the midfielder after he has grown by 'leaps and bounds' since leaving Betis for Italy.
Suggestions that Manchester City remain on the hunt for a David Silva replacement, despite Phil Foden's impressive performance in midweek, continue with the report stating Ruiz's 'quality and clarity' makes him a potential successor to 'El Mago'. The same article suggests Pep Guardiola would be pleased with the acquisition.
However, SPORT states it will not be easy for City to complete Fabián’s transfer, given the poor relationship with the Napoli president, after the failure to sign Jorginho in 2018. Add to this the interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, and the deal looks difficult to complete.
