Manchester City have emerged as the frontrunners to secure the signature of highly-rated Hearts defender Aaron Hickey, according to the Daily Star.
The 17-year-old, who has become an important member of the defensive line under Craig Levein, is also being monitored by Scottish Premier League rivals Rangers, with sporting director Ross Wilson recommending the club make a move for the youngster.
However, despite a number of big clubs showing an interest in the teenager, it is Manchester City that are ahead of the potential suitors, according to the report from Star Sport.
Much has been made of Manchester City's lack of strength in the defensive department, and although the original report cites the injuries to key players in that position, it is highly unlikely that City officials will see a move for Hickey as a way of solving such problems.
