We are now coming up to three seasons since Manchester City signed young midfielder Claudio Gomes from the PSG academy, and Pep Guardiola certainly had big expectations for the French youngster, who can play in a midfield role or even in a full-back position, as he has shown for the U23 side.
Since his arrival at the Etihad, the 20 year-old has made only three total first-team appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side. However, Gomes has not given up hope on becoming a regular senior team player for the Premier League outfit.
During an exclusive interview with the Manchester Evening News' Simon Bajkowski, the Manchester City youngster had this to say on his future at the club:
“My target is to be a Manchester City player. I’ll keep going, working hard. We can't say my chance is gone - it is not possible in football - we don't know what will happen in the future."
"Now I’m in Manchester, I’m happy, I’m working hard in Manchester City all the time", he went on to reiterate.
Gomes continued, “Maybe the opportunities will come soon or next season. I don't know but I believe in my project at Manchester City."
In the same report, Bajkowski has stated that Pep Guardiola has been happy with the player's integration into the senior squad and that Gomes will continue to work at his game with the aim of becoming a Manchester City mainstay.
