Ilkay Gundogan has been named as the winner of the PFA Premier League Player of the Month for January, following an outstanding month for the Germany international.
The Manchester City midfielder beat off competition from teammate John Stones, as well as James Maddison of Leicester, Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, Tomas Soucek of West Ham, and Emile Smith-Rowe of Arsenal.
Across the month of January, Gundogan made a total of six Premier League appearances under Pep Guardiola, scoring a staggering five goals from a total of 17 shots at goal.
Gundogan has firmly become an instrumental and integral part of Pep Guardiola's plans and playing style, following the injury to Kevin De Bruyne - which saw the Belgian midfielder ruled out for a minimum of one month.
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has also got off to a flyer in February, registering three goal contributions in just two games this month. Gundogan scored two vital goals in the remarkable 4-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, while he also assisted one of the two goals City scored at Burnley earlier this month.
