Pep Guardiola has stated that Aymeric Laporte is set to return training with the rest of the first-team squad in around 'one week or ten days', speaking ahead of Manchester City's clash with Everton on New Years Day.
Manchester City have been without their number one central defender since the end of August, after the Frenchman sustained serious damage to his knee in the victory over Brighton. Since then, Guardiola's defence has struggled and the Catalan boss has been forced into playing a multitude of players in very different positions to cope with the strain on his squad.
However, speaking ahead of the clash with Everton, Pep Guardiola stated: "Laporte is now getting better and training alone, he’s already on the pitch. I don’t know (how long until he's back) but one week or ten days then he can train with us."
Leroy Sane remains ruled out through injury but appears to be not far behind the French defender in terms of his recovery process. David Silva and John Stones are both back to full fitness and are ready for Wednesday's clash.
