Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was quick to hail his striker Sergio Aguero, who we now know will leave the club at the end of this season.
The Argentine will leave the Etihad Stadium as the club’s all time leading goal scorer, and his manager was not shy of singing his praises.
In speaking to ESPN Brazil, Pep Guardiola had this to say on his star striker.
"Agüero's numbers speak for themselves... Maradona, an Argentine, conquered Italy. Messi, another Argentine, conquered Spain. And Agüero has conquered England. His numbers speak for themselves."
He continued, “When you have this internal fire, as Agüero does, you often win matches alone. He has played more than 380 games and more than 250 goals in the Premier League so, so tough, over the course of a decade!"
While all those associated with the club will remember Aguero as a club and Premier League legend, Pep Guardiola hastily reminded us that there are still titles to be won and goals to be scored for Sergio Aguero.
“Agüero is an extraordinary person, and we still have a month and a half to win more things and help him to score goals."
