The Calm Before The Storm - Transfer Round-Up (25/06/19)
Good Evening City Fans! A quiet day in the transfer rumor world brings us a couple stories on familiar faces. How long will it be before one of the deals gets over the line? Here’s your daily transfer roundup!
Harry Snubs United
For some time now it’s looked like it has been a case of when and not if Harry Maguire leaves Leicester City. The question has been where he will end up, with his apparent first option, Manchester City, not willing to pay Leicester’s huge asking price, and Manchester United being more willing to break the bank. But according to The Sun, Maguire is set to snub all United interest, as he has set his sights on linking up with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
Cancelo Saga Coming to a Close
First he was “seriously packing” his bags, and then he was getting ready to pack his bags. Nobody really knows how packed Cancelo’s bags are, but Nicolò Schira believes the deal is coming close to completion. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport journalist, Juventus Sporting Director Fabio Paratici is in London looking to finalize the rightback’s move to the English Champions. Tuttosport has also backed up this report, adding that City are closing to sealing the deal. Will we be seeing the Portuguese international in City blue in the coming weeks?
With Diego Godin’s imminent move to Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid have been on the hunt for a new centerback to replace the Uruguayan. Two names have come up from Marca via Sport Witness: Daley Blind of Ajax and Nicolas Otamendi of City. The City centerback is apparently an “old dream” of Diego Simeone and the Argentinian’s presence in the air entices the manager. Would you be okay with seeing Otamendi leave the Etihad this summer, along with Kompany’s departure?
One of Brazil’s brightest stars in the Copa America so far has been Grêmio winger Evérton. The player has been linked with moves abroad many times but has stayed in Brazil to continue his development. However, this summer could be the one that gets his move to Europe. According to RadioMarte, the player has been offered to Napoli, who are considering him, but Manchester City are still favourites for his signature. The Brazilian international has a price tag of €35 million. Do City need another winger if Sané stays next season as has been reported in recent days? Would you like to see the Grêmio star in Manchester?
Lancs Live report Preston North End are being linked with a move for City keeper Aro Muric. Other City youngsters such as Lukas Nmecha and Brandon Barker have joined the Championship side in previous seasons, and they hope to find a similar deal for Muric.
Jack Harrison will be returning to Leeds next season, with a deal reported to be concluding this week according to LeedsLive. The English winger impressed manager Marco Bielsa last season, making 42 appearances.
In other news, Lucien Agoume of Sochaux is Inter Milan bound in a deal worth £6 million, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. This deal has been agreed despite the chance to move to the Premier League under Pep Guardiola or Unai Emery
