An area of the Manchester City squad that could see serious change is forward positions. With Dean Jones of Bleacher Report giving us updates regarding Leroy Sané, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Agüero.
The rumours surrounding Leroy Sané's move to Bayern Munich are growing ever more frequent. But a new twist comes in the form of his new representatives, who are now open to negotiating deals to a host of clubs, including Italian giants Juventus.
For players that could potentially replace the German, City will be looking at Jadon Sancho; they have a buyback clause that enables them to match any bids offered to Borussia Dortmund. PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is also admired, but the club admit he's out of their price range.
Gabriel Jesus is the other player who could leave the club during the summer. It's believed that the Brazilian seriously considered his future in the summer, but chose to stay and battle for his place. Indications now suggest that his patience has worn thin after only starting twelve Premier League games this season.
City also remain confident that Raheem Sterling will not leave for La Liga this season, despite the continued reports of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
A bigger concern is how the club will look to replace Sergio Agüero. The 31-year-old has scored 21 goals in 25 matches this season, but has made no secret of the fact that he wants to end his career with boyhood club Independiente.
City’s recruitment staff are working hard to make sure they are not caught out when he decides to make that move and would ideally want his long-term successor already at the club before he leaves.
A realistic option to replace Sergio Aguero would be fellow Argentine Mauro Icardi who is on loan at PSG from Inter Milan. Erling Haaland is still on the club’s radar, but has a €75m buyout clause that activates after this summer.
