Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has opened up about the squad's desire to win every competition possible. Pep Guardiola’s men are still fighting on four fronts deep into the back end of the season.
And with the Carabao Cup final clash against Tottenham in just two months time, a ten point lead in the Premier League and continued life in both the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, the conversations surrounding an unprecedented ‘quadruple’ are starting to ramp up.
As per quotes relayed by the Mirror, the Portuguese said this on Manchester City’s season ambitions:
“It's the key to winning competitions, to have a solid defence, a solid team that doesn’t concede many... We're happy with how solid our defenders, goalkeeper and midfielders are, and everyone helps from the striker to the goalkeeper...”
He went on to say, “We know we have good momentum, but this is just the Champions League last 16. We're going to try and do well in the second-leg to go through to the quarter-finals. Then we have the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. It's going to be a tough season, but we’re going to try to win them all...”
“We're happy with the win and we congratulated each other, but now it's on to the next one. Nothing is done yet.”
While Bernardo Silva admits the Blues have ambitions to win it all, he is still taking it only one game at a time.
“We have a very tough game in the Premier League [vs West Ham]. We have to prepare well. It's 19 games winning in a row, so we’ve got to keep this momentum as long as we can. We don’t have much time to prepare, but it's been like this since the last six or eight months...”
“We're used to it and we know how tough it is. We have four competitions to play, we need to be 100% in all of them and now we have three days to prepare for West Ham in the Premier League and we're going to get ready.”
