The transfer window is well and truly underway. From a possible swoop for a striker to a surprise target at right-back, we've got you covered for all of the Manchester City transfer news of the last 48 hours.

Could we be set for a major overhaul at the end of the season? Time to welcome a world-class striker to the Etihad? Could it time to bid farewell to a City legend this summer?

City ready to bolster squad by splashing the cash in the summer

[Rumour Rating: 7]

As per Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, City are planning a major squad overhaul in the summer.

The Citizens are reportedly in the market for a left-back, given their recurring problems down the left flank in recent seasons.

With their being constant uncertainty around Fernandinho's future at the club, City are looking to add personnel to their midfield in the summer despite Rodri's emergence as a crucial first-team player this season.

City are thought to be willing to spend around £200 million on the right players to strengthen the squad for next season, in an attempt to avoid another sluggish start to a league campaign.

Sergio Agüero: Stick or twist?

[Rumour Rating: 5]

Do I dare say it? Is it too much of a risk to keep hanging their hats on an injury-prone Sergio Agüero and a profligate Gabriel Jesus, when you're competing on all fronts?

City are planning for life beyond Agüero, who has less than six months left on his current deal at the Etihad.

The Argentine, 32, is in line for a new one-year contract at City. However, despite being keen to extend his deal beyond June, the club are likely to offer around half his current salary of £250,000 a week, according to the Daily Star Sport.

According to Simon Mullock of The Sunday Mirror, City officials have made it clear to Agüero that he needs to prove he is 'fully recovered' before they decide on whether to offer him a new deal at the club.

Regardless, City are in the market for a long-term successor to Sergio Aguero, even if the Argentine stays at the club, as per Mike McGrath of The Telegraph.

Hold your bluff for Barcelona-bound Garcia?

[Rumour Rating: 9.5]

"We don't need him!"

"Sell him in January!"

Trust me, we don't wish to keep Eric Garcia any more than he wants to stay - question is when can he leave and for how much.

The story continues to rumble on. After multiple ‘Here we go’s’ from Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it appears Eric Garcia's transfer saga will take a million more boring turns before the inevitable move materialises.

Garcia has made it clear as day that he doesn't want to sign a contract extension at City and has his heart set on a re-union with boyhood club, Barcelona.

As it stands, there is no agreement between Manchester City and Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano, The only agreement reached recently was between Garcia and Barca - pending president approval - as he plans to rejoin the Catalan outfit in the summer on a five-year contract.

Lamptey links a bit too far-fetched?

[Rumour Rating: 7]

As reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, City are among the ‘admirers’ of Brighton right-back, Tariq Lamptey.

The Englishman just signed a new, long-term contract with the Seagulls that will keep him at The Amex till 2025, fending off interest from the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atlético Madrid, who were all vesting their interest in his signature.

The talented full-back burst onto the scene at the back-end of the previous campaign with a string of impressive overall displays against the best teams in the division.

The player’s new contract is unlikely to ‘discourage’ clubs keen on recruiting the defender.

Brighton could be tempted to cash in on one of their most priced assets should the right offer present itself.
