Recent reliable reports have suggested that the deal for Eric Garcia to make a move to FC Barcelona this summer is now at an 'advanced stage', with a deal for the Manchester City centre-back nearly 'finalised'.
The same report from ESPN's Samuel Marsden and Mois Llorens also goes on to suggest that Manchester City are almost certainly set to face serious competition in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta eager to land the Norwegian.
According the report, the La Liga club are still on the hunt for Haaland’s signature, despite several sources claiming that their financial situation could hinder the move. The club’s debt is thought to have risen to nearly €1.2 billion, with a great importance being placed on reducing their wage bill over the course of the coming months.
Erling Haaland’s world-renowned agent, Mino Raiola met with the Barcelona president last week to discuss the suitability of a transfer for the striker, as a part of tour around several major clubs, including Real Madrid.
The in-demand striker has a €75 million release clause embedded into his Borussia Dortmund contract, which can be activated from the summer of 2022 - so clubs are having to pay a heightened fee this summer if they want to acquire the striker as soon as possible.
Some reports suggesting that the Bundesliga side won’t part ways with the marksman for less than €150 million.
Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is also vying for the signature of Manchester City defender Eric Garcia on a free transfer, with the ex-Barcelona academy star out of contract this summer.
Eric Garcia, who signed for Manchester City's academy from Barcelona in 2017, has made it clear that his intentions are to re-join his former club. A deal is thought to be being finalised with the 20-year-old’s agent Ivan de la Pena, and an announcement will be made soon.
