Manchester City appear set to totally re-tool their forward ranks this summer. With club leading goal scorer Sergio Aguero yet to receive a contract extension, the rumour mill surrounding some of the most sought after attacking talent in Europe has not stopped turning.
The Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman reports that Erling Haaland is destined for the Etihad according to some 'credible sources'. The Norwegian has been linked to the usual big boys in European football, but the reports are that City are the frontrunners to sign the Dortmund man - and it might not even be close.
Ladyman goes onto report that the Lionel Messi conversation is not yet closed, however with this weekend’s Barcelona presidential election set to take place, the conversation in question may hinge on the outcome of the results. Recent reports have stated that even if Manchester City are able to secure Messi's signature, the club will still go after a top class centre-forward.
Also reported is the name of Jack Grealish appearing linked to Manchester City again this week, again from 'good sources'. Grealish is one of, if not the, hottest property in English football, and has been linked with moves to most of the ‘big six’ clubs.
However, recently Grealish spoke out about his admiration for Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, saying, “I think he’s probably just the most perfect footballer in the Prem. I just try and take little bits really out of his game.”
While this is likely not Grealish hinting at some sort of future deal, you can't help but think that the Villa man would relish an opportunity to play alongside his favourite player if given the chance.
