European and La Liga giants Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on the remarkable emerging talents of Manchester City academy striker, Liam Delap according to the latest information on Monday.
The 18 year-old striker is currently enduring one of the most staggering seasons in front of goal from any recent breakthrough Manchester City academy forward.
As well as making his senior and Premier League debut under Pep Guardiola this season, Delap has scored a mind-blowing 26 goals in just 20 appearances across all competitions, with a further five assists to compliment his tally - earning the nickname among some corner of the Manchester City fan base; the 'new Erling Haaland'.
However, his goalscoring form certainly hasn't gone unnoticed, with emerging reports on Monday suggesting that Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid are now keeping a close eye on the progress of the former Derby attacker.
According to journalist Paul Brown, Manchester City are 'braced for an attempt' by Real Madrid to sign the rising star Liam Delap - who remains under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2023.
Manchester City see the son of former Premier League icon Rory Delap as one of their brightest prospects, while coaching staff have been impressed by the way the teenager has adjusted to life in Manchester, since making the move from Pride Park in 2019.
Although Pep Guardiola has had Liam Delap training with the first-team for the large majority of the season, first-team opportunities have been few and far between - despite City's lack of fully-fit strikers during large parts of the campaign, and despite Delap's goalscoring record in the academy.
The report claims that not only are Real Madrid 'monitoring his development closely', but they have also 'made contact' with Liam Delap's representatives to declare an interest.
Previous reports on Delap have suggested that Manchester City would be open to letting the striker leave the club in the summer - but on a loan-deal to a club within the UK. It has been claimed that the likes of AFC Bournemouth, Stoke City, and Derby County would all be interested in the player for the 2021/2022 campaign.
