Future Manchester City signing Kayky has made his first professional start for Fluminense this week, scoring the opening goal as his side thrashed Macaé 4-0 on Tuesday evening.
Several Brazilian media outlets were impressed by the starlet’s ability to settle quickly into the professional game, with Globo Esporte reporting that he showed almost no signs of pressure when making the step up.
“For those who had doubts whether at 17 he would feel the weight of responsibility, Kayky proved the opposite", the Brazilian news outlet stated.
UOL were also quick to praise the youngster’s eye-catching performance, with the 17-year-old reportedly already “one step ahead of defenders and even teammates”, and playing with “speed, quick dribbling and a lot of objectivity.”
However, Manchester City fans will have to wait a little longer to see their new man in action.
Globo Esporte state that a €10 million plus bonuses deal for the forward has been agreed since February, but Kayky can only make the move once he turns 18 - and even then, there is a feeling in some corners that Manchester City will only see the player within their academy in 2022.
In the meantime, the club will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on his progression with the first team at Fluminense, and assessing whether he has the potential to make the immediate step up to the Premier League.
