Manchester City are claimed to be one of several clubs 'admiring' Brighton & Hove Albion right-back, Tariq Lamptey - despite the 20-year-old recently signing a new deal at the Amex Stadium, according to the latest claims from England.
The promising defender has made a remarkable start to life in the Brighton first-team since making the switch from Chelsea a year ago. His incredible turn of pace and threat from defence into attack has caught the eye of some of Europe's top clubs, and the latest reports looks into which clubs may remain interested despite his new deal.
According to David Ornstein of the Athletic in his Monday column, Manchester City are among the ‘admirers’ of the promising Brighton right-back. It is claimed that the player’s new contract is 'unlikely to discourage’ clubs keen on recruiting the defender.
Along with Manchester City, it is reported that both Arsenal and Everton are also among the player's admirers, while the player was also heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich last summer. The Athletic does reiterate that no bids are thought to have been made for the player.
City are known to be preparing for a busy summer transfer window, with reports over the weekend citing a £200 million budget which could involve recruitment at centre-forward, defensive midfield, and left-back - three positions that have been highlighted as flawed during some occasions this season.
Whether or not City develop their admiration for Tariq Lamptey into something more concrete remains to be seen, however with Kyle Walker entering the final years of his career, Pep Guardiola may deem it necessary to prepare early.
