Manchester City have been named as one of the potential suitors for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
Recent reports have revealed that Manchester City are joined by Juventus and now Real Madrid in the race for the Italian's signature.
However, Calcio Mercato have also mentioned that the interest from the La Liga giants might not be too much to read into. The same report has suggested that Sassuolo will hold out for a fee of around €40 million for the 23 year-old and will hope for a bidding war.
Locatelli has emerged this season as one of the brightest talents on Italian soil. As a deep lying playmaker, arguably the most important role in Pep Guardiola’s system, Locatelli has provided two goals and two assists in 21 Serie A performances.
With Fernandinho’s career winding down in the coming years, or even months, the club will certainly look to add to their depth in the defensive midfield role. While Rodri is the current go-to man for Guardiola, Locatelli has begun to show his talent - and at the age of only 23, he can only get better from here.
