Manchester City’s 'intention' regarding midfielder Ivan Ilić, who is currently out on loan at Serie A side Hellas Verona, is to not lose him, with the player's destiny already ‘sealed’ according to reports from Italy on Tuesday.
The same report, as translated by Sport Witness, claims that the summaries on Ilić landing on Pep Guardiola’s desk from the Manchester City loan manager have been received with 'enthusiastic tones’.
Reports from Tutto Mercato Web and translated by Sport Witness have reiterated the fact that the Manchester City boss has been encouraged by the form of the 19 year-old Serbian midfielder.
Ilić has spent the duration of the 2020/2021 season on loan in Italy and has impressed in the 19 appearances he has made so far.
Last week, Sport Witness had relayed information provided by dedicated club website Hellas 1903 that a deal to send the midfielder to Verona on a permanent transfer could be on the cards.
The fee for such a transfer could reach around €12 million. However, with Pep Guardiola keen on making Ilić a part of his first team plans in the future, the Etihad hierarchy will push to insert a buyback clause in the range of €24 million.
The Premier League leaders have recently been linked to Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria. However, they may just already have a future midfield star on their books in Ivan Ilić.
