Manchester City will reportedly consider strikers from the Premier League or the Serie A if they unable to sign their reported top target Erling Haaland to replace the departing Sergio Aguero this Summer, according to Paul Hirst of The Times.

Journalist Pol Ballus understands that Manchester City are planning for a “generational changeover” during the summerwith Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Spurs’ Harry Kane being "top of the list," as aim to replace a player whom Pep Guardiola described as “irreplaceable".

20 year-old, Erling Haaland is expected to be subject to rife transfer speculation this summer with Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea all reportedly interested in signing the Norwegian goal-machine, who has 49 goals in 49 games so far this season.

The Dortmund forward, whose father is former Blues player Alf-Inge Haaland, has a long-term contract and a release clause which isn’t active until the end of the 2021/22 season with the German club who Manchester City will meet in their Champions League quarter-final next week.

Should Manchester City be unable to sign Erling Haaland this summer, Paul Hirst has reported that Spurs forward and England captain Harry Kane is one of the alternative forwards the Blues could consider bidding for.

Harry Kane, who currently leads the race for most goals and most assists in the League this season with 30 direct goal contributions for Spurs already, has a staggering goalscoring record with 160 goals and 33 assists in 237 appearances.

The 27 year old is though seven years older than Haaland and according to Paul Hirst’s report in the Times, Daniel Levy would demand a “huge fee” for the Englishman given he is contracted to the North London club until 2024 - having signed a six-year contract at Spurs prior to the 2018 World Cup.

Other alternatives may include Lautaro Martinez, who is said to have been “scouted extensively” by Manchester City. The 23 year old, Argentine forward is yet to sign a new contract with the Italian side and having seen a transfer to Barcelona collapse last Summer, could Sergio Aguero be replaced by a fellow Argentine?
