As the months left on Sergio Aguero’s Manchester City contract continue to wind down with no sign of an extension, the list of clubs that could take a shot at signing the Argentine has steadily grown.
The striker’s current deal is set to expire at the end of this season, and with only two months left, no deal to extend the club’s all time leading goal scorer has been made.
Along with the lack of extension for Sergio Aguero, Manchester City are strongly linked with moves to some of Europe’s top strikers - including Borussia Dortmund's in-demand forward, Erling Haaland.
Recent reports have suggested that Barcelona president Joan Laporta will make signing Sergio Aguero one of his top priorities, however a new claim from Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy suggests that Serie A giants Juventus could also be in for the 32 year-old.
According to the translated report by Sport Witness, the prospect of joining up with Cristiano Ronaldo and competing for major trophies could entice Sergio Aguero to follow in the footsteps of former Manchester City and Argentina teammate Carlos Tevez; who made the move from Manchester to Turin back in 2013.
While there is still time for the Premier League club and their goal scoring talisman to strike a deal over a new contract, it is looking more and more unlikely as time goes on.
The club have reportedly told Sergio Aguero that an offer could hit the table if he can prove he has the ability to regain fitness after a string of recent injuries. However, the scintillating goal scoring form that Manchester City fans are used to from the Argentine still seems to be far into the distance.
A separate report from the ever-reliable Lu Martin stated that Pep Guardiola will ask Sergio Aguero whether he wishes to remain at Manchester City or leave the club, and in the end, it will be the player's decision.
