Manchester City are set to go head-to-head with Barcelona to sign Inter Milan's Lautaro Martínez, according to Tuttosport.

Argentina international Martínez (22), has impressed with 19 goals in 56 Serie A appearances in his Inter career to date. His promising form has led to links with several top European clubs, with City and Barcelona at the forefront of the speculation.

He's been touted as a potential replacement for compatriot and City legend Sergio Agüero. For most teams, though, Inter's hefty demands could prove a stumbling block; they're thought to be asking for around €100 million for the forward.

Rather than offering a straight cash deal, Pep Guardiola's side could consider including a player as a makeweight. Gabriel Jesus and Angeliño are the two players attached to the rumours about a potential swap deal. Full-back Angeliño is already considered likely to leave the club in the near future after impressing during his loan spell at RB Leipzig.

Jesus has been linked with moves away from the Etihad in recent months, but it's still unclear whether or not his long-term future lies at City.

Martínez joined Inter in July 2018 for a reported fee of €22.7 million from Argentina's Racing Club. He signed a five-year contract, which reports indicate he's not interested in renewing.
