Manchester City have been linked with 23-year-old Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli who currently plays for Serie A side, Sassuolo. The latest reports claim that there is 'nothing serious' between the Premier League side and the player.
Earlier, transfers rumours suggested that Pep Guardiola and his scouting team are fond of Locatelli. It was also said that the club is planning to make an offer for the player, but Fabrizio Romano has dismissed those claims.
Sassuolo director, Giovanni Carnevali recently stated that the Serie A side received an offer for Locatelli from an 'important foreign club'. However, he insisted that they are not looking to sell the player in January.
He was quoted saying; “I didn't deny that two days ago we received an offer from an important foreign club, but we'll not sell him this January.”
Locatelli has made 16 Serie A appearances so far in the 2020/21 season and has two goals and one assist to his name. Reports suggest that Sassuolo will demand €40M for the Italian International in the future.
Over the last few weeks, Pep Guardiola has repeatedly said that City will not sign new players in January. Instead, the club is expected to conduct all transfer business in the summer.
