Tutto Mercato Web has reported that Pep Guardiola likes soon to be free agent goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma ‘a lot’. However, Ederson’s status at Manchester City obviously makes any sort of move for the Milan keeper unlikely.

The situation is described as ‘difficult, but not impossible’, states the report relayed by Sport Witness. But there are a number of factors that make this a difficult rumour to believe.

While the AC Milan man is coming to the end of his current deal at the end of the season and a contract extension has yet to be signed, with the club moving at an upwards trajectory and Donnarumma being a hometown hero at the San Siro, it is hard to see him moving on just yet.

On the Manchester City side of things, Ederson has the number one role totally locked up and it is safe to assume that one of Italian football’s most talented keepers would not be willing to play second fiddle

The Manchester City number one has four years remaining on his current deal, and if Donnarumma were to ever put on the sky blue kit, it would more likely be when Ederson’s deal does expire.

Donnarumma does have age on his side at only 22 years of age, so a move to the Premier League leaders at some point in his career can not be totally ruled out.
