There are three Premier League clubs interested in signing current Manchester City loanee Taylor Hardwood-Bellis, according to the Lancashire Telegraph on Tuesday.
Additionally, it is reported that Championship side Brentford have also been mentioned as having enquired about his future availability, with the Bees mounting a serious charge for Premier League promotion this season.
The 19 year-old centre-back joined Blackburn Rovers on loan in January and has impressed, with manager Tony Mowbray praising his instincts, heading, and tackling ability.
However, Rovers reportedly fear for his chances of remaining at the Lancashire club amidst interest from higher profile sides.
Harwood-Bellis had limited time in Manchester City’s first-team before going out on loan in January, managing four appearances last season and four more this season; two in the League Cup and two in the FA Cup, contributing to two clean sheets.
With Pep Guardiola’s side recently signing Ruben Dias from Benfica and Nathan Aké from AFC Bournemouth last summer, and Eric Garcia remaining at the Etihad Stadium in January despite keen interest from Barcelona, it became clear there would be no more game time available for the promising Stockport-born defender and a loan move was necessary.
As for next season, Eric Garcia’s contract is due to expire, which could leave a place open for Taylor Harwood-Bellis to return and fight for his place at Manchester City.
Although, with other Premier Leagues sides reportedly interested, perhaps another season-long loan away would improve his development.
