Chelsea are monitoring Sergio Agüero's Manchester City exit and view the striker as a possible alternative should they fail to sign Erling Haaland, according to James Olley at ESPN.
Clubs have begun to circle in anticipation for Aguero’s summer as a free agent. Barcelona are leading the race for the Argentine, but Chelsea want to be kept informed should he wish to stay in the Premier League, claims ESPN’s James Olley.
Inter Milan and Benfica are also reported to be keeping an eye on the situation regarding the City legend. Agüero has stated his desire to remain playing at high level upon the expiry of his City contract at the end of this current season. In a statement on Twitter the 32-year old said this:
"Then a new stage with new challenges will begin, and I am fully ready to face them with the same passion and professionalism that I have always dedicated to continue competing at the highest level."
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was reluctant to speak on the matter in Friday’s press conference, stating; "...We have three competitions in which we are in with Manchester City so I will not speak about their player."
However, one thing is for certain - Chelsea’s interest in the City star is for real.
