Real Madrid are aware they're facing competition from Manchester City for the signing of Bayern Munich defender, David Alaba, according to the latest reports by AS.
The Austrian looks to be edging ever closer to the exit door of the European champions as the weeks go by. His current contract expires this summer and is now able to talk to other club's to agree a pre-contract for a transfer.
It's well documented that Alaba's preference is Real Madrid, but recent reports do suggest City have ramped up their interest in the defender. They are apparently ready to offer a salary of €11 million net/ €22 million gross per year.
The 28-year-old's versatility will definitely be a factor in City's interest. Pep Guardiola has already worked with him at Bayern Munich, so will know he can play in every area of the backline as well as defensive midfield.
He's featured in 19 Bundesliga games this season, scoring two goals, and reminding his suitors just what they'd gain with him at their club.
