As clubs circle around Sergio Agüero, who is now free to sign with a new club for next season, the unlikely idea that the striker could remain in England with another Premier League club is beginning to look more and more likely.
Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea could be keen on a move for Agüero and will continue to monitor his end to the season with the Etihad club.
While some felt that Barcelona would emerge as the favourites to sign the Argentine, reports form the Standard’s James Robson has revealed that sources close to Agüero insist his determination to move up the all-time Premier League goal-scoring charts could lead to him remaining in England.
In typical managerial fashion, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was unwilling to comment on his club’s interest in Agüero, however the German was not willing to deny the links; "There are no words needed from me about the achievements of this guy, he is a world-class player,” said Tuchel.
He continued by saying; "But don't forget, we compete in three competitions for Manchester City so I will never speak about their players and talk about a player's future. It's their player and I expect they do the same.”
