Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens has opened up about the rumours linking him to a possible move from Bergamo to Manchester City or or fellow Serie A club Juventus.
The German has broken onto the scene over the past few seasons as one of the many undiscovered talents that helped launch Atalanta to become serial top four finishers in Italy.
In speaking to German football outlet Kicker and translated by Sport Witness, Gosens spoke out about how honoured he feels to be linked to such big clubs, saying this:
“Of course, an absolute honour, there is no need to discuss it. When the European elite have you on their radar and say that you might even be at the top of the list, that is gigantic and shows that you’re on the right track and that you are consistently performing this season. It’s crazy – especially when you can see which way I went.”
The 26 year-old even went as far as to mention some occasions that he dreamt of playing and learning under Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
“I can never remember my dreams, I sleep so well. That’s why I can’t answer that exactly [last time he dreamt of Pep Guardiola]. However, this is a coach that I look to, who can raise you to another level in terms of football", said Gosens
Manchester City have been linked with an interest in the defender, and it comes as no surprise considering their interest in signing a new left-back in the upcoming summer transfer window.
At present, Robin Gosens is joined by Sporting's Nuno Mendes in being the two reported left-back targets at present, with the latter potentially deemed as one for the future as opposed to an immediate fix at the Etihad Stadium.
