Alexis Sanchez will be attempting to score against Spain this summer for Chile. And for a moment, it looked like, he may well have decided Spain's domestic league title race with an audacious goal.

With Barcelona needing a win over Atletico Madrid to claim La Liga's championship, Sanchez fired a rocket from an impossible angle to put the hosts ahead of Atletico in the 34th minute. Atletico, reeling from early injuries to Diego Costa and Arda Turan in the game, still needed just a tie to claim the title (and it got that goal soon after halftime through Diego Godin to win the championship), but the club went behind off the piece of individual brilliance.

The play started with Cesc Fabregas chipping into the area, where Lionel Messi chested it down. Without hesitation, Sanchez ran onto the ball and hit a one-time rocket to the near-side upper corner, leaving goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with no chance.
