The U.S. men's national team took a step in the right direction in its final pre-World Cup friendly before departing for Brazil, defeating fellow World Cup participant Nigeria 2-1 at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. The Americans had topped Azerbiajan (2-0) and Turkey (2-1) in the build-up to Brazil prior to the win over the Super Eagles, one that came on the strength of two Jozy Altidore goals. Next up for the USA: A closed-door scrimmage vs. Belgium on June 12 prior to the Group G opener vs. Ghana on June 16 in Natal.
