Concacaf president and FIFA VP Victor Montagliani acknowledged on Monday the complexity of restarting competition while potentially reshaping the region’s 2022 World Cup qualifying format. The consensus would be that domestic league play will reignite international travel and matches with no audience, to then staging the Nations League finals between USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Honduras. Afterward, the hopes are that World Cup Qualifying and 2021 Gold Cup can follow, however, Montagliani believes it’s still too early to make any assumptions as to when competition can resume. As for club soccer and Concacaf's Champions League, Montagliani was confident that the region could work with scheduling in matches in time to identify a participant for December’s FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.
