Australia and New Zealand will host the 2023 Women’s World Cup, following a vote by members of the FIFA Council. The two nations won after the first ballot with 22 votes, and Colombia behind with 13. This will be the first time we see 32 teams in the tournament, eight more than the 2019 World Cup in France, and is expected to kick off in July of 2023. 12 cities are proposed to host matches with seven in Australia and five in New Zealand. The 2023 competition will also be the first time a World Cup for men or women will be shared across two continental bodies, and the first co-hosted women’s edition.
