It may sound like a "cliché, but if you don't feel good in the bathing suit you're not going to look good."
Former SI Swimsuit model Emily Ratajkowski is the queen of swimsuit selfies. So who better to get advice from on how to take the best summer snap, than from the queen herself? In a new interview with ELLE, Emily gets real about her pre-photo-shoot prep routine, admitting that "what you do the night before isn't going to make a huge difference in how you look."
And while the model turned actress is wise enough to know that "maybe eating a giant burger and being bloated would make a difference," the best kind of routine is simply maintaining a "fit and body-conscious eating schedule."
Is Emily just genetically gifted in the looks department? Duh. The model herself is quick to own that. But for the rest of us, it's all about balance in your diet and knowing your angles.
"Of course there are angles, like lifting your butt up in a certain way so you have a nice arch in your back," the Gone Girl star explains. "It's funny because you can be sore after your shoot, especially if you spend the day doing unusual things with your body. It just depends on the pose.
"You definitely become very aware of the muscles in your stomach, because you're thinking, 'Is that angle flattering for [my] stomach?'. It's tricky, but the more confident you feel the more likely you are to get a good picture."
There you have it folks! A little confidence (and maybe a salad for lunch) is all you need to get the bikini-clad selfie of your dreams.
