The racing takes place in some of the world’s most iconic city waterfronts, where athletes from rival nations will race head-to-head on the newly redefined F50 wingsailed catamarans, which fly above the water on wave-piercing hydrofoils at speeds of over 50 knots (60 mph). The Summer Youth Olympic Games took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sunday 7th October 2018 featuring 28 sports. The YOG is an elite sporting event for young people from all over the world, bringing together talented young athletes aged 15 to 18 from over 200 countries. An event distinct from other youth sports events, as they also integrate a unique Culture and Education Programme, based around five main themes: Olympism, Social Responsibility, Skills Development, Expression and Well-being and Healthy Lifestyles.
