Timea Bacsinszky advances to Monterrey Open quarterfinals

MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) Fourth-seeded Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland advanced to the Monterrey Open quarterfinals Thursday, beating Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Bacsinszky won the Mexico Open last week in Acapulco for her second WTA Tour title. She'll face Urszula Radwanska of Poland, a 6-2, 6-4 winner over seventh-seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia in the hard-court event at Club Sonoma.

In night matches, third-seeded Caroline Garcia of France, the Acapulco runner-up, faced Francesca Schiavone of Italy, and fifth-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia played Johanna Larsson of Sweden.

In the quarterfinals, second-seeded Sara Errani of Italy will the Pavlyuchenkova-Larsson winner, and eighth-seeded Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia will meet the Garcia-Schiavone winner. Also, top-seeded defending champion Ana Ivanovic of Serbia will play Kristina Mladenovic of France.
