Oudin, Sock win mixed doubles title

Saturday September 10th, 2011

American teenagers Melanie Oudin and Jack Sock beat eighth-seeded Gisela Dulko and Eduardo Schwank 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 10-8 (tiebreaker) on Friday night to win the mixed doubles title. Oudin, 19, and Sock, 18, received a wild card into the tournament, saved match point in their first-round match and upset the top-seeded team of Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan in the second round.

"It was actually really easy playing together, because we're really comfortable with each other," Oudin said. "He jokes a lot when we're playing and he keeps me relaxed, and sometimes that's what I have been having trouble with. I'm very positive and so that helps him. I think we complement each other really well."

Asked how they were planning to celebrate the title, Oudin noted that it was a bit of a late night, and Sock chimed in, "I can't make it. Chipotle is going to close in 20 minutes."

Earlier in the week, Oudin joked that their chemistry was that of an "old married couple." Boy, she wasn't kidding.
