Massapequa Coast Little League represents New York, while Fairfield American Little League is representing Connecticut. Both of these teams are 1-0 after winning their regional openers on Saturday. New York beat the Toms River East Little League team from New Jersey 6-3, and Connecticut beat the Cumberland Little League team from Rhode Island 3-1.

The Metro regional is new for 2022 with the Little League World Series tournament expanding, including 10 teams from the United States instead of six.
New York was previously in the Mid-Atlantic region. The last time a New York team reached the international tournament was in 2018.
Connecticut was previously in the New England region. The state has sent a team to four of the last 11 tournaments - most recently in 2017. Fairfield American has been the state champion in three of those four years.
The winner of this game will advance to the Metro region final on Friday. Meanwhile, the loser will face New Jersey in a win or go home game on Monday.
