Out of the Big Ten, the Mountaineers are 4-1 on the season with their first loss being picked up in the first round of the tournament against Purdue. West Virginia played a great second half, but unfortunately went into the half down 11 and couldn't break the deficit. Three players from the yellow were in double figures including Joe Toussaint off the bench with 16 points. He also chipped in five rebounds and four assists in the loss.

Portland State took on perennial powerhouse Gonzaga in the teams first game and the loss put it under .500 at 2-3. The game got out of hand quickly and Portland State found itself down 24 at the halfway mark.
With three players in double figures, Jorell Saterfield led the way. The junior guard had 21 points and three rebounds in the loss.
