The series continues on Saturday night after the Aggies improved to 5-11 in conference play while the Lumberjacks fell to 10-6. Stephen F. Austin had won four straight games, including a sweep at Tarleton State last weekend, while New Mexico State had lost three of its last four games and has not won a WAC series this season. The Lumberjacks haven't lost a conference series since being swept at Abilene Christian in their conference opener last month.

SFA opened the scoring with two runs in the second but after the Aggies struck for five in the bottom of the frame, New Mexico State never trailed again and scored four in the bottom of the eighth, three on a bases-loaded error by right fielder Cole Hill to end a 16-6 victory under the WAC's 10-run rule.
Nolan Funke homered twice for the Aggies and Preston Godfrey also went deep. Cal Martin and Julian Thompson hit home runs for the Lumberjacks.
Alex Rodgers paces Stephen F. Austin with eight home runs and shares the team lead of 28 RBI with Martin. Rodgers is hitting .358/.437/.627. For NMSU, Kevin Jimenez had six home runs and 20 RBI while Funke is batting .338/.393/.558.
