The Cougars have already clinched the Silver Glove Series with wins in the first two games earlier this season and will try to close out a sweep of the city rivalry. Houston is 12-5 in American Athletic Conference play, a half-game up on East Carolina for the league lead. The Owls have dropped nine in a row entering Wednesday night and are 7-17 on Conference USA action, eighth in the 10-team standings and a game ahead of UAB.

The Cougars took two games from Wichita State last weekend before the series finale was canceled because of weather. Drew Bianco doubled and tripled, driving in four runs in Houston's 7-5 victory on Saturday, while Cameron Nickens produced a two-run single.
Rice played Tuesday night and was rocked at home 10-1 by Incarnate Word. Ben Royo's sacrifice fly in the fifth provided the only run for the Owls while Pierce Gallo was two-for-four as Rice was held to six hits in the loss.
Houston won its lone home game in the Silver Glove Series on April 4, taking a 14-13 slugfest, before winning at Rice on May 3, 8-5, in 12 innings to clinch the series.
