Kentucky's circuit began on Wednesday against the Dominican Republic National Select Team. In the first tuneup of the season, the Wildcats won 108-56. Reigning National Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe scored a game-high 17 points in 21 minutes, while five-star freshman recruit Carson Wallace and sophomore Daimion Collins each scored 15. Another star freshman, five-star recruit Chris Livingston, led the team with eight rebounds. He also had 11 points.
Kentucky is preparing for what is expected to be a championship-caliber season. The Wildcats return two key players in Tshiebwe and point guard Sahvir Wheeler from a team that went 26-8 last season. The Wildcats spent 11 weeks ranked in the top 10 but lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
