The win streak stopped at one, however, because the Lobos lost an overtime game to New Mexico State by a score of 73-64. LaTora Duff scored 12 points between the third and fourth quarters to finish with a team-high 13, while Shaiquel McGruder scored 11 points in the second half. It was too little, too late however, and the team fell short.
When these two teams met last season, New Mexico won 93-73.
