Utah State closed to within three points of SMU in Friday's semifinal before the Mustangs put the game away with five quick points. Max Shulga and Sean Bairstow each scored 18 points for the Aggies in the loss, with Bairstow also grabbing eight rebounds.
Washington State hung with host Hawai'i in their semifinal Friday night until the Rainbow Warriors pulled away with a 20-5 burst in the second half to take a 62-51 victory. Bamba scored 19 points for the Cougars, who shot just 30.5% on the night.
The Aggies have won seven of eight meetings against Washington State, but the teams haven't played since Dec. 18, 1960.
