The winner of the Santa Clara vs. San Francisco game will take on No. 2 Gonzaga. BYU had a first-round bye and is looking for its third win in a row. LMU has yet to play a game in this tournament. The Lions will also be going for their third straight win.

BYU beat No. 8 Portland in the second round of this tournament on Friday 82-71. The win was huge because the Cougars were losing by 13 at the half against the Pilots. Richie Saunders led the way for BYU by recording a career-high 18 points and it was the first time he has led the team in scoring. The win was the second-largest comeback at the half since Mark Pope took over as head coach in 2019. BYU will need to get off to a much quicker start though to keep rolling through this tournament.
